Mama Lana’s Community Foundation

Penrith RSL is currently a collection point for non perishable grocery and toiletry items only. Unfortunately, we can not accept any other items. For all bulky items, including furniture, and clothing please contact Storage King Penrith.

Mama Lana’s Community Foundation is a charity that is incorporated, wholly not for profit and is committed to helping feed the homeless and underprivileged patrons in our local area.

Lana and Roger Borg, with the help of our volunteers, go down to Penrith under the Trade Secret bridge on Station Street every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights from 8pm to 10pm weekly and provide 60 to 80 hot, homemade meals each night as well as toiletries, food packs, blankets, sleeping bags, swags and hampers to feed approx. 45-65 people.

They also liaise for the patrons with Centrelink, Penrith Council, Department of Housing and other resource centres and Government Departments to help the patrons any way we can to make their lives more comfortable and bearable.

The Company at the time of its formation was established for the purpose of promoting the following charitable purposes:

  • To provide assistance to the homeless, destitute, impoverished and underprivileged people in our community in a manner in which we ourselves would wish to be treated, to advance their wellbeing, outlook on life and prospects for their future independence.
  • To provide meals to the homeless, destitute, impoverished and underprivileged people in our community as many nights a week as the Company can.
  • To support the homeless, destitute, impoverished and underprivileged people in our community by supplying food and toiletries parcels to those needing assistance.
  • To support the homeless, destitute, impoverished and underprivileged people in our community by supplying clothing and blankets to keep them warm during the colder months.
  • To provide the homeless, destitute, impoverished and underprivileged people in our community with a special meal at Christmas time and other special occasions.
  • To undertake fundraising activities from time to time to assist with delivering our charitable purpose to the community.
