President's Report
COMMUNITY & NEWS

Since taking office I have represented the sub Branch at a number of engagements, these are as follows.

17th March. A meeting with the Penrith Council over delays and the councils
lack of commitment to Memory Park  No result unfortunately.

10th April.   Blaxland High Schools excellent Anzac Service. This an excellent example of a well run State High School, and I recommend this service to all.
As written in the Reveille I ran an Anzac Service on a cruise ship on Anzac Day while our two Vice Presidents ably ran the two local services.

12th May     I attended the service for the Hospital Ship Centaur at Concord hospital run jointly by the Merchant Navy Association and the 113th AGH Association. It was fitting that this was International Nurses Day and I was surprised to see many WW2 nurses in attendance.

19th May     I met with our Federal Member David Bradbury over the ongoing DFRB adjustments issues. The result is in the Governments hands.

24th May     I attended the Nepean Legacy Change over Luncheon at which I presented them with a cheque for $2000 from the sub Branch..

26th/27th May With Secretary Maxie Close I attended the NSW State Branch Annual Congress At Rooty Hill. I reported on this at next general meeting, a full report was in the following Reveille Magazine..

1St June       I met with the ladies of the Blue Mtns War Widows Guild at their AGM. It was the last meeting for the outgoing President Pauline Ticehurst who passed away a few weeks following the meeting, a lovely lady who will be missed by them all.

I was out of action for most of the month of June after having Eye surgery with everything being satisfactory.
July 10th.  Accompanied by Norm Andrews, I attended Memory Park to receive a cheque from State member Karyn Paluzzano for $10,000 from the NSW Government toward the memorial upgrade.

August 4th Another War Widows event, this time, the Annual Luncheon of the Legacy Widows group.

August 9th

The Annual sub Branch Appreciation luncheon was held, The RSL State Branch was represented by John Haines AM, the Metropolitan Vice President. Seven out of the 12 recipients of the 50 Year Service Certificate were able to attend to receive their awards from John Haines. At the luncheon the Women’s Auxiliary presented me with a cheque for $10,000 toward sub Branch welfare, and presented Norm Andrews with a cheque for $1,000 for the Memory Park redevelopment fund. Well done girls.

September 6th I made a trip to Fairfield RSL club for a fund raiser for the Fairfield Women’s Auxiliary. It was a concert by the Australian Army BandWhat a performance. Jazz, Symphonies, Military Marches, Rock and Roll etc
The professionalism was great to see and a great afternoon was had by all.

September 19th I was present together with John King, at the Naval Associations annual memorial service, held at the Sandy Brennan reserve near the rowing club in Penrith. Plaques for deceased members were placed on the memorial

September 30th   I attended the Women’s Auxiliarys Annual Luncheon and met representatives from their state body and neighbouring auxiliaries.

Thanks to all the members who attend the monthly meeting and other activities, and to our various office bearers who carry out their functions to assist their fellow members
