Welcome to the Penrith RSL Photographic Club’s webpage. Our club promotes and encourages the knowledge and uses of photography while nurturing the growth and development of the individual member as a person and as a photographic artist.
This is achieved through a balanced syllabus that is both informative and entertaining. Our meetings are held in a very friendly and informal environment where we have regular guest speakers, hands-on workshop nights, outings, competitions (only 4 per year) and Show & Tell.
Show & Tell was developed to encourage members to show their work and talk about it. Because photographers not only like to take photographs but also show them off and explain why they took them, what aperture and shutter speeds they used, what technique they applied and was it successful, etc. If you want, you can ask for constructive criticism from other members on how your photo might have been improved.
This has proven, over the years, to be a very popular segment and one which is thoroughly enjoyed by everyone (especially beginners) as it gives an insight into how other photographers create their images.
Feel free to come to a few club meetings as a guest. If our club is what you are looking for, then why not apply to become a member and receive great tips and advice whilst learning new ways to improve your techniques in landscape, portraiture and nature along with making new and lasting friendships.
Members must belong to the Penrith RSL Club and then can apply for membership to the photographic club which is only $25 per year.

OUTING TO SYDNEY
On Wednesday 9th June more than a dozen of our members had a trip into Sydney to photograph the Vivid Festival of Light. Many buildings on Macquarie Street, starting at St Marys Cathedral down to the quay were lit up spectacularly. We then moved on to Circular Quay to photograph the Sydney Opera House light show.
OUTING TO BI-CENTENNIAL PARK, HOMEBUSH BAY
On Sunday, 13th June twenty three members came along for the walk around Bi-centennial Park at Homebush Bay. The wetlands area was of particular interest as it contained an enormous amount of bird life which was a joy to photograph.

Board a ferry to follow the 18 ft skiffs racing around Sydney Harbour – 2:00 till 4:30 pm from Milson’s Point.

Action shots of go karts racing and then a walking tour around the historic buildings of Windsor

Workshops to be conducted in the Macquarie Room from 9:30 am till 4:00pm. Lighting and portraits, depth of field, still life, macro – request a topic you would like covered.
Sunday 19th September – Mount Annan and the Cumberland Plains
Gardens, forests, plains, animals, birds, Wollemi Walk of Discovery.
Sunday 17th October – Hangmans Rock and the Convict Trail
Wiseman’s Ferry sandstone formations, convict built walls and the Hawkesbury River.
Sunday 21st November – Water Sports Day
Cables Lake Park, White Water Rafting and Sailability
